mini-conference

illinois SOFT had a mini-conference this weekend. it was really great to see our old friends, and we got to meet some new ones as well. it was nice to be able to meet some people that i had talked to over the internet, but never met in person :) akaiya had a good time. she loves to be around people. there were several speakers that were really informative and tolerant of the loud kiddos ;) i'm always so appreciative that we have gatherings like this. it's wonderful to be able to bond with parents that are in the same situation as you.

That is pretty amazing that you have enough children to warrant your own conference.

I know that there are some pretty good docs in Chicago who are not oppose to cardiac surgery etc for triers.

What is ironic, is that back around 1915, infants born with disabilities were being euthanized in Chicago. It was novel for the country and made headlines.

A book was written about it called "The black Stork" by Martin Pernick.

there really are a lot of trisomy families in the area. there is a little girl with T18 in kaiya's class. they started school at the same time and the teacher was shocked she had 2 children with the same rare condition. there was another little boy in the class that is a couple years older and he is a T9 mosaic. our mini-conferences are always pretty well attended. we usually have at least 5 trisomy children. we had 8 trisomy kids at this mini-conference.
